Amsterdam

Hey beautiful,

At Easter my boyfriend and me decided to go for a few days to Amsterdam as I am completly in LOVE with this cute little city, its beautiful minimalistic stores and amazingly beautiful small streets and bridges. I haven’t been there for almost a year and he hasn’t been there for ages haha. So here we go: packing our bags to start our quick trip to Amsterdam. The night before we stayed at my parents place in my hometown Cologne so we had a really easy and fast 2,5- our drive to Amsterdam. Our apartment was located super central and as we had our own bikes we were super flexible(it doesn’t make sense to take anything else as it is not only great for seeing the city and moving a little bit but it is so easy to find your way by bike and you can save the money you would have spend on cabs etc and buy yourself a little present in all those cute boutiques). We went to the 9 straatjes which are located right behind the city center with those huge shopping miles and were fascinated by their great variety of boutiques, small restaurants or vintage shops. I am sure everybody will find a well-matching shop for himself. Later we went for dinner at Normads which was quite hard to find as there is no sign outside(it took as 10 mins walking from door to door and passing it at least 3-4 times :D) but it was so worth it. The oriental-influenced restaurant offers a great variety of cocktails and marrocan inspired tapas, and it was the perfect ending of a shopping day as you are laying on big couches, watching bellydancers doing all those incredible bodyworks and enjoying a three-course-menu which made my senses explode :D. The next day we went for a run to Vondelpark and had a healthy lunch at Vinnies(don’t miss their almond-chocolate brownies with salted caramel) ;-)
Afterwards we went to the city again – this time to the main shopping streets, exploring some shops I am missing in Hamburg like Brandy and Melville. while shopping we found the best shop ever: A nutella shop where you can not only buy any ferrero products but top all their sweets with tons of nutella. I have no clue why we don’t have this in Germany or why I haven’t found it yet, that’s how I imagine heaven :D. It offers you any sweets you can imagine, no matter if you’re craving for ice-cream, macarons, eclairs, muffins, cookies, crepes, milkshakes aaand so on and it is all filled AND topped with nutella. A must-do. Later we walked around the red-light district and enjoyed a lovely evening with a great dinner at matahari. But don’t forget to make a reservation here as we were just lucky grabbing the last table in a two-floored restaurant :-)
The third day we ride with the bikes to Vondelpark, had a lunch with a big dutch cheese platter and visited a Cheese Museum close to the central station before driving home. Of course we had to try and buy some delicious dutch cheese before heading back. Definitely worth taking some of it home :-)

Hope these tips will help you out a little,
Much love

      Hey,
      xx
